Bringing history to life with travellers’ tales

“Ibn Battuta: Journeys from a Golden Age” is an exhibition that takes visitors on a journey to follow quests and unravel exciting stories from an age of travel and discovery in Muslim civilisation. Where explorers and travellers like Ibn Battuta, admiral of the Chinese fleet Zheng He, master navigator Ibn Majid, Ibn Jubair and Al-Masoudi braved all elements to seek knowledge.

14th-century famous traveller Ibn Battuta takes centre stage ravelling some of the exciting stories of his travels around the world that lasted 29 years. Sometimes called ‘The Prince of Travelers’, Ibn Battuta’s journey took him to more than 40 countries of our world today.

With over 1,350 sqm of exhibits, Virtual Reality games, hands-on workshops, live shows, exciting competitions, fun challenges and film screenings, the exhibition is a highly engaging family experience.  Through raising awareness of the journeys made by explorers from Muslim civilisation, 1001 Inventions aims to inspire children and young people and equip them with a mindset that enables them to build a better future.

The exhibition also features scenes from Cosmic Picture’s IMAX film “Journey to Mecca: In the Footsteps of Ibn Batutta”, edited under license for this exhibition. To watch and purchase the full film visit: http://www.journeytomecca.co.uk.
