1001 Inventions was invited to attend and speak at Engineering Islam 2008, held at the Roy al Academy of Engineering in London . The Engineering Islam event was run on Monday 22nd September 2008. Building on the success of a similar idea last year, the event was hosted by the London Engineering Project (LEP).

Students from six

London schools, aged 11 to 15 attended the event which comprised of sever al workshops based on the 1001 Inventions Teachers Pack, and presentations. Workshops included ‘The Bird Man’, ‘Raising Water’ and ‘Seeing in the Dark.’

Dr Mahbub Gani, Lecturer at Kings College London, delivered a speech entitled "Amnesia and the Identity Crisis" on beh

al f of on beh al f of 1001 Inventions and FSTC. The speech highlighted the missing millennium form the Schools Curricula and from the main sources which influence public opinion and showed how a wonderful civilisation had existed during the so c al led "Dark Ages". Thousands of inventions from this civilisation which still affect our present life are airbrushed from history.
