Egypt: Academy of Scientific Research and Technology Partners with 1001 Inventions

1001 Inventions award-winning Exhibition to launch in Alexandria in October 2015 

Cairo, 22nd July 2015: 1001 Inventions, the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and the Library of Alexandria announced today their partnership to bring to Alexandria the award-winning 1001 Inventions blockbuster exhibtion.

The 8-week celebration, starting October 2015, will feature interactive exhibitions, educational films, live science shows, hands-on workshops, educational resources and cultural events. The exhibition will be held at the Library of Alexandria Conference Center and will be open to the public.

Dr. Mahmoud Sakr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology said: 

We are very pleased to bring to Egypt the world renowned 1001 Inventions Exhibition. The Academy aims to promote the culture of science and innovation through diverse activities and hosting the award-wining 1001 Inventions Exhibition in Alexandria strongly supports our mission.

 

Ahmed Salim, Producer and Director of 1001 Inventions, commented:

1001 Inventions is delighted to make its debut in Egypt, a country with a significant role in the development and preservation of knowledge throughout history. 1001 Inventions brings to life the stories of scientists and scholars who lived during the Golden Age of Muslim Civilisation like Ibn al- Haytham, Ibn Sina, al-Razi, Fatima al-Fihri and many more… those astounding individuals who’ve had a huge but under appreciated impact on the way we live our lives today.”

The National Educational Programme for Egypt was announced in November 2014 by Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab. With the patronage of the Prime Minister and the partnership with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, the Library of Alexandria and Cairo University, 1001 Inventions aims to deliver a highly successful educational programme in Egypt that would reach the the hearts and minds of millions of people in Egypt through a journey to the past to inspire a better future.
